Electric Forest 2018 Line-Up & More

You’re counting down the days until you return to the magical forest you call home, Electric Forest.

From December-June, you make playlists, packing lists and dream line-ups.

When It’s finally time to pack up your car with all of the festival essentials (including a chandelier you bought from Earth Bound because it would be half off) and you make the journey to Rothbury, Michigan.

While you wait in the mile-long lineup of cars, your best friend pulls out a water bottle full of Fireball and everybody starts chugging. Music is blasting from the speakers of cars with license plates from almost all 50 states, flow artists bring out their toys, everyone’s yelling “Happy Forest!” as loud as they can and the search for Carl begins.

You wait in line on that first day, meet new people, high-five everyone ahead or behind you and finally make it through those gates. Excitement overwhelms as you hear the bass coming through the speakers of Tripolee and you burst into a full on sprint collapse in the grass. You grab your closest friends and dance until you can’t breath. You finally realize you’re home.

Line-Up Drop
Bow down to the festival gods, because they blessed us with the full lineup for both weekends.  I’m shook. Headliners include The String Cheese Incident, Bassnectar, GRIZ LIVE BAND, RÜFÜS DU SOL and Zhu for both weekends. Galantis will headline Weekend 1 and Marshmello and Testpilot will headline Weekend 2.

Though, this is not the first leak of the line up. Head Quarters has been keeping Foresters hyped since they left EF17 through recap videos, photo galleries, announcement emails and more.

Line-Up Release Event
Earlier, Festival Owl released the first tier of the EF 2018 lineup. Meaning, this is not actually the first leak of the line-up. While this is not always “official,” it’s usually damn close to accurate.

The acts were released via various clues that were scattered at “pop-up” style show at Necto, a nightclub in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Ryann Boyd attended the event and revealed the acts to his associate Booogiemonsta, and she posted them on the Electric Forest Reddit page.

“Artists were revealed in a word search that was projected on the outside of the building, on promotional style posters, in riddles on a one-night only cocktail menu and two actually played the event,” Boyd said. “I feel like I did an OK job finding out most of the clues, but I have no way to be sure I uncovered them all.”

When You Wish Upon a Forest 
HQ wants Foresters to be a part of making Electric Forest what it is by having at least one new promotion every year. Electric Forest has always been very hands on. The Plug-In programs which gives Foresters the chance to be creative, come up with a new concept for the festival, or do something good for their community is another example.

This year, HQ launched Wish Machine, a program designed to spark change in our world. Participants can donate their time at a local youth shelter, throw a fundraiser for a charitable cause, give a free yoga lesson or anything else that comes to mind.

In return, HQ will give winners a chance to meet an artist, get free food or even a weekend pass. It’s all up to you to bring the Wish Machine full circle.

 

 

Other Plug-In programs include Luminaria, Her Forest, Electoricology, Unmediated Photographer and Videographer, Art Installation Scholarship, Sticker Design and the Roy Price Memorial Food Drive.

I’m not quite sure what’s going on, but the official Electric Forest Snapchat has posted photos of Foresters using the phones from EF17. But on a couple of those photos, are phone numbers. Call and listen to the surprise voice message yourself.
