New Music: Hi This Is Flume Mixtape & Visualizer
How much Flume to you want? All the Flume!
On March 20, the Australian producer released his anticipated mixtape WITH a visualizer. Flume offers listeners his signature style with that underground feel many originally fell in love with. The mixtape features 17 songs with collaberators such as HWLS, Eprom, SOPHIE and JPEGMAFIA.
Electronic music is not just about the audio experience anymore; think deeper bass, sharper lasers, intenser visuals. With higher and higher standards of live shows, it’s no doubt that parts of the experience are floating into the at-home, listening experience.
This isn’t just a music video – It’s a 42 minute experience. The visualizer is by Jonathan Zawada. He shows the viewer real images, mixed with the imagination and creates a beautiful trip.
Side note: The last favorite artist, of mine, to release a visualizer alongside new music, was MGMT in 2013. “The Optimizer” was about as good as the music. (It’s been four and a half years, I need to let things go.) It was available online for a short amount of time before it had to be purchased with the album.
Jonathan Zawada’s work has restored my faith in these simultaneous releases. Yet, I question how long it will be available to the public. It is advised to watch the video until your eyes bleed.
It also wouldn’t come as a surprise if clips from the visualizer, or more artwork from Jonathan Zawada, are found on Flume’s summer festival stops. This leads to the next exciting announcement from Flume.
Flume is headlining Lollapalooza 2019.
Hopefully, the heady will outbalance the gaggle of teens with one girl who reassures her friends, “I only want to you hear ‘Never Be Like You’ then we can go to Ariana Grande. Promise!”
