“Cloud Walk” EP by ESCPE Out Now Through Gravitas Recordings [Overview]

Imagine if heavyweight bass boys CharlestheFirst and Of The Trees conceived a hypothetical bass baby. Let’s say this hypothetical bass baby was raised and ushered through life by the one and only, queen-Clozee. Sounds like a recipe for a beautiful audio experience — wouldn’t you say? Lucky for us, Nashville native ESCPE might just be that hypothetical treasure. Today he graces us with six brand new ethereal tracks from his new EP, “Cloud Walk” out now with Gravitas Records!

ESCPE’s name may look familiar from his impressive collaboration “Rain Dance” with CLoZee on her 2018 freshman album “Evasion.” A downtempo dance through bass-rippled rain, just like the title insinuates. Or maybe you remember seeing the name ESCPE on a lineup  years back alongside a young Of The Trees and CharlestheFirst during the 2018 Ascent tour. Or it’s possible you caught his set at Breakaway Music Festival — you know, the largest touring music festival in the United States! Regardless, if his name looks somewhat familiar now, it definitely will be after the world experiences “Cloud Walk.”

Earlier this November, Trap Nation premiered the project’s lead track “Suncrown” featuring none other than Finland native, Axel Thesleff. This feel-good tune is beautifully written with dark undertones and a touch of congas. With it being the only collaboration on the EP you can quickly tell ESCPE can hold his own in the bass scene. 

 

From “Dawn” —the introductory track which eases in each listener with heavenly vocals on top of soft melodies and familiar chimes; to “Dusk”— the following track incorporates minimal hip-hop vocal chops and hi-hats to get some scrunch in the face. By the time “Memories” plays you can’t help but shimmy those shoulders right into “Sacred.” And “Sacred” into “Overgrown” brings a sense of freedom as the flutes usher in a deeper vibe. 

 

Cloud Walk is an ethereal experience to calm the mind and purify the soul. Don’t sleep on this incredibly cohesive piece of art and keep an eye out for ESCPE in the future!
