capshun launches new label, DENALI, with a single by MUIRA, [Announcement]
DENALI wasted no time putting music in the people’s ears. Wait—what is DENALI? The better question is, who is DENALI. The label was recently announced by the Co-founder and CEO of the Bonsai Collective, capshun, with support from Sasha Rome and Afrosamuraiist.
“With a focus on the melodic side of production,” the Bonsai Collective expands to DENALI to showcase harder electronic music genres such as bass, drum and bass, house and further. DENALI released a single titled “Aethesis” by up-and-coming bass producer, MUIRA, to set the tone.
The artist describes the song as “a more powerful, more abrasive side of MUIRA, that hurts and wants to be understood. Something that I really haven’t shown in my past tracks.”
Early tracks under the project such as “To Chimera” and “Chlorine” show a more romantic and soft side to MUIRA. Similar to the complexity and many sides of humans, the project seeks to tell the story of MUIRA, and offer a glimpse into their reality. MUIRA, is depicted through the art of Vitkaninn. The music reveals a similar style to the likes of Flume and Porter Robinson.
“Aethesis” starts out extremely vulnerable and finds its strength as the track progresses. At the song’s essence, it’s really just a story,” said, MUIRA,. “Between the distorted bass, manipulated vocals and that delicate piano, I think you get something that reads very emotionally pure and magical and that will hopefully translate well to the listener.”
The experimental bass track has a natural build with a soothing piano. The song takes on a new life when it erupts with a stirring bassline yet soothing synths. Like any good story, the track comes full circle and MUIRA, brings the listener back to the humble beginnings of the track. But, in experimental bass fashion, MUIRA, brings the listener around again for a second drop, more stimulating than the latter.
While DENALI brings its focus to the unruly side of electronic music, the label’s melodic roots are unmistakable. The track showcases what to expect from DENALI in the near future, and founders share that they already have several releases lined up.
The label is currently accepting demos at denalirecs@gmail.com.
