Cabrillo and Niles Shepard release feel-good house track, Dancin’ [Overview]
Across cultures, three is considered a magical or sacred number. Whether it’s “third time’s the charm” or “good things come in threes,” Niles Shepard and Cabrillo have tapped into the number’s power with their third collaborative release—“Dancin’.”
As of February 22, the track will be available for any time you feel like, well, dancin’. The uplifting house number is under Alex Preston’s Basement Sound label.
Cabrillo and Niles Shepard’s previously collaborated on house track, “Baja,” under Late Night Jackin label and a two-track EP, “Goes Like This,” with Nite Records.
For a moment, the bouncing bassline of the track carried me all the way back to Queen Night at Chicago’s iconic basement nightclub, Smartbar. The song’s feel-good energy induced a slow descent down an old stairwell, out of the wind and towards the increasingly louder beat of house music. The uplifting lyrics encourage people to see dancing as “a celebration of what’s going on in your soul” and to “feel the beat.” I’m suddenly surrounded by literal queens, service industry workers, people of all ethnicities, all sexual orientations, and fog—lots of fog. God, I miss dancin’ in crowds.
