Photo Diary: Fairy Doors at Electric Forest 2019
Electric Forest 2019 was heldJune 27 – 30, is a magical event featuring a lineup laden with funk, jam, and electronic music. Headliners this year included The String Cheese Incident, ODESZA, Kygo, Bassnectar, Zeds Dead, Ganja White Night, Twiddle, Bob Moses, The Floozies, T-Pain, Gramatik, Seven Lions, Ripe, Defunk, Charles the First, Jantsen and Desmond Jones – just to name a few of our favorites.
For those who seek more than musical performances, the forest has little secrets waiting to be discovered. One may stumble upon words of affirmation, a library, wizard or interlinked telephones. This year, Perfect Harmony’s very own fairy scout, J-baby, set out to find the fairy doors scattered throughout the forest.
Here are the 15 fairy doors J-baby found in the forest and her favorite memories of them.

“Since my very first Ef in 2017, I have made it a goal to find as many fairy doors as possible,” J-baby said. “It brings me joy seeing all the creativity and inspiring quotes. It makes each door unique and eye catching.”
“The first fairy door I found was this beautiful little pink, blue, and green flower shaped door that held an orb in the center,” J-baby said. “Inside, I found an easter egg with a bracelet and a note in it from the creator herself, KandiNKomfort, on Etsy.”
“Generally, I would find kandi, actually candy, toys and stickers. This year, I brought a bag of stones to place in the fairy doors I found,” J-baby said.
“The most difficult fairy doors to find were oddly enough any fairy door not close to the ground but hanging eye level or lodged in tree branches.” J-baby shared.
“I really liked any interactive door where you had to twist keys or move sand around to read the message inside,” said J-baby.
“I found a few repeat doors from previous years such as the medical door, face kaleidoscope/memories at the forest doors, a mushroom shaped door and of course the large map fairy door,” she said. “The large door was the key to see the generalized location of all the fairy doors.”
“My favorite doors were the honeycomb, zen garden, medical tenet, blue/green bell tripod stand and dragons egg,” said J-baby.
Honey Comb – “This door went with a recurring theme through the forest on the importance of bees and bee sustainability. It was located near the fuzzy wall,” she shared.
Zen Garden – “You could calm your mind as you read the message inside. I was so calm, I can’t remember what it said. Oops,” said J-baby.
Medical Tent – “It had a cool compartment to exchange goodies. I found lots of ‘needed’ goodies. I found tampons, hand sanitizer, lotion, hand aids, and gum. And of course, it was located by the medical tent in the forest,” said J-baby.
Blue Tripod Treasure Chest – “It was a cool place to hide goodies in with little decorated boxes and pockets in the moss.”
Dragon Egg – “It reminded me of GoT. My favorite message was in there too. ‘Always keep the place where magic grows alive,’” said J-baby.
“The fairy doors make the Forest a special festival to attend. It is less about the music and more about the experience. The forest is magical and gets the creative mind moving and thinking,” said J-baby. “Don’t lose your childhood playfulness and creativity.”
