Flow Artist Feature: The Daisy Alexandra
Passion, art, hooping and a cute doggo is what you’ll find when you visit Daisy Alexandra’s Instagram page. I’m almost more obsessed with her dog Brian than I am with her flow. Not only is she an amazing hooper, she also spins fire with lotus fans. They twirl around her fingertips so smoothly you would think they were a part of her soul. When she’s hooping, every movement connects together creating a mesmerizing dance.

Q: How long have you been hooping?
I started hooping with a single hoop in August 2015, and started twin hoops at the beginning of 2016.
Q: What made you want to start?
I actually started spinning fire staff at first, I loved it but I never really clicked with me. That year I went to Boomtown festival in 2015 and I forgot to take my staff. I was gutted that I didn’t have something to spin! Untill one evening at the festival I spotted a woman on stilts spinning a gorgeous LED hula hoop and I was entranced! The next day we walked past a shop selling huge beginner hoops and after seeing the stilt girl the night before and being flow-frustrated I bought my first hoop! A huge 36 inch exercise hoop, and I’ve never looked back! I’m a firm believer in that the flow prop chooses you! Hooping just felt right for me.
Q: What’s your preferred size of hoop?
I feel like I really connect with smaller hoops, so anywhere between a 20 – 30 inch is my cup of tea but my absolute favorite to hoop with my 24 inch 5/8 poly pro minis!
Q: What’s your favorite: LED, fire or day hoop? Why?
How could I choose! I think every hoop has its own pros and cons, but I love the simplicity of a naked poly pro, light weight and you can use it anywhere.
Q: Who do you get your hoops from?
Sacred Flow Hoops! They have gorgeous seamless connections, are affordable and they have so many colors to choose from! For someone hooping on a budget but want quality they are an awesome!
Q: What’s your favorite trick?
That’s a tough one! With twin hoops there’s so many possibilities, but I’d have to say the ‘goddess machine’ it was one of the first tricks I really had to try hard to learn and it has SO many variations.
Q: What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever hooped?
Glastonbury festival in 2017! I performed at Glade stage with two amazing musicians (Davos and Mark XTC). I had such a blast hooping for a crowd on the last day of the festival on a sunny afternoon. The energy of the crowd was amazing and it filled me up with so much joy!
Q: Obviously you’d bring your hoop, but what are the other 2 things you’d have with you on a desert island?
If I had my hoops I’d defiantly need a notebook and pen to write and draw!
Q: What type of music do you like to flow to?
Music and flow go so hand in hand that it’s hard to pick just one! It depends on what kind of mood I’m in but to narrow it down it would have to be Bonobo for those Flow zen moments and the Benny Goodman orchestra for some energetic fun!
