Track Review: Polish Ambassador and The Diplomatic Scandal
David Sugalski, also known by his stage name, The Polish Ambassador, has been making electronic music for well over a decade. Ranging from 8 and 16-bit chiptune to tribal funk, The Polish Ambassador, or TPA, has been evolving and and diversifying his music for the extent of his career while maintaining a sound and style that are unique to him.
Late last year, TPA leveled up yet again as he made the decision to incorporate live instrumentals into his music in a new project named Polish Ambassador and The Diplomatic Scandal.
Sugalski is joined by Ryan Herr on guitar, Tyson Leonard on violin and Jesse James on saxophone and flute in this fresh TPA venture.
Just last week, The Diplomatic Scandal released their second recorded track, Let The Lost Funk New Rhythms. This track is a combination of Let The Rhythm, Forever Lost, and New Funk Millenium, which are all former TPA tracks from his albums Ecozoic and Pushing Through The Pavement.
Sugalski refers to his creation as the three tracks “smashed into one delicious little cupcake with violin, guitar, saxophone, and flute love butter icing on top.” It’s eloquent and accurate.
Slightly stripped down versions of each track are heard, allowing Sugalski’s bandmates to fill in the missing pieces with instrumentals while he throws down on a synthesizer. Vocal parts from the original tracks have also been replaced by instrumentals.
The piece begins with a bit of “Let The Rhythm”, eventually flowing from “Forever Lost”, into “New Funk Millennium”, and finally, into original Diplomatic Scandal material over the course of sixteen funky, captivating minutes.
