5 Ways Excision is Raising the Bar

His posters advertise the watts of bass alongside the date and location. He frequently interacts with his fans on social media and listens to their suggestions. He knows no limits when it comes to putting together a show. Dubstep mastermind, Jeff Abel, is changing the electronic music scene one bass drop at a time. His fan know him best as Excision and as member of dubstep band, Destroid.  He is continuously setting a higher standard when it comes to production and redefining what it means to truly care about your fans.

We wanted to highlight 5 times Jeff Abel went above and beyond in 2017, making him the name on all our lips.

 1. He communicates with his fans.
Excision kept headbangers thoroughly updated and included on the planning and execution of his inaugural “Lost Lands Music Festival”. From the get-go, Jeff Abel, kept active on Facebook, asking fans or “headbangers” how far they would travel for an event, and took it the vote into consideration when he chose the midwest state, Ohio, to host the event.

In a Facebook post made Sept 27, the day before his event, Abel wrote a heartfelt message informing attendees that he wanted to know any and all complaints about the festival; with contact information.

“I am supremely confident in everyone who is working towards our goal of creating an amazing festival, but with that said, if anything goes wrong, I will take complete personal responsibility,” said Abel.

He held true to his word when during Thursday arrival, many people posted concerns about how they were treated by security. Abel was quick to act, firing the security guards and added more non-security staff to the check in, an info booth and larger signs.

“We have zero tolerance for any of our staff being disrespectful to any one of you,” said Abel. “So the first thing we did was fire 13 local security guards who were causing problems.”

2. He speaks up.
At a Salt Lake City show in October, a man carelessly jumped/fell from the balcony landing on a young woman, breaking her leg and back. Ouch. Abel addressed the incident on Facebook and encouraged fans to look after each other.

“I know that these idiots probably weren’t any of you guys, they were probably locals from outside our scene who had nothing better to do for Halloween,” said Abel. “But I just wanted to remind you guys to always be aware of your own limits and to watch out for all your fellow headbangers.”

He included a link to Rebecca Crawforth’s go-fund-me and so far the page has raised over $10K for Crawforth’s hospitable bills. Here’s the link if you’d like to help out.

3. The Paradox Tour
Excision is not missing a single major city on his tour and is even spending two nights in many locations. “The Paradox Tour”, started on Saturday, November 18th in Arizona at Goldrush Music Festival and finishes March 17th in Houston, Texas. He’ll spend four months touring his 150,000 watt of sound with custom design stage alongside artists such as Liquid Stranger, Dion Timmer, and Monxx.

4. Virus: the Remix
Incase you hadn’t aleady broken your neck headbanging to his 2016 album, “Virus”. Excision released “Virus: The Remix” in 2017, featuring remixes by Crizzly, Funtcase, 12th Planet, Dion Timmer, Datsik and many more.

5. Lost Lands 2018
After Lost Lands, he wasted no time making plans for 2018. Abel quickly created a poll, organizing headbangers suggestions for the 2018 line-up as well as which weekend they would like to see the event happen next year. The polls are now closed and the official date has been set for two weeks earlier.
