This year Culminate Presents teams up with Low & High for the session of the century. If you’re around Minneapolis, pack your bags and roll up to the Exchange down town for a night of rude boy business. Coming from Vancuver British Columbia, Mythym will be making his Minnesota debut along side underground favorite, Dalek One. Make sure to show up early for Minnesota natives Dopel and Trip B who are sure to start the night proper on the Function One sound system. Along with special live painters, glass and CBD vendors on site for maximum chill.

Mythm has been making tidal waves in bass music with his signature distorted bass lines and crunchy breaks. You’ve likely scrunched your face to a track or two during a recent dubstep set without realizing it and loved it. Numerous dubsteppers have been spotted rinsing MYTHM plates in their live sets, including the three headed beast, Ternion Sound. Still buzzing along the underground grapevine today, is Mythym’s latest victory in Atlanta. Curated by, Def Global, an event team held in high regard in todays underworld. 

To top it off we have bad boy Dalek One who recently self released his hit single, “Pushin Plates.” Last July, Dalek One and Mythm released a collaboration EP titled, “SLEEPWALKER” on queen VEILS record label; Street Ritual—A sound we could get definitely used to.

Three tracks with the same Dopel flavor, with a side of 85 BPM. When it comes to music, Stepping outside of oneself’s comfort zone isn’t easy. Dopel understands you gotta risk if for the biscuit, and boy the biscuit has been buttered.

Minnesota native, Alex Opel Schmidt (Dopel) fell  in love with the sound system culture and likeminded connoisseurs of sound. Since relocating to Colorado to pursue his passion for music full time, Dopel has shared stages with national headliners including, The Widdler, Bukez Finezt, Dalek One, and Pushloop and he’s just getting started.

On February 8, 2022, Dopel will share with the world his latest EP with Culminate Presents; “Invasion”. A three track project that will Invade the air waves with a somewhat different sound for Dopel. With two of the tracks at 85 BPM, you sense  a hip-hop undertone carried by unique synth leads and classic Dopel sub bass growls sure to get the crowds head boppin’. The final track, “Sometimes Insane” comes in at 140 BPM and is what they call a rattler of a tune is all we can say,  you can expect to hear it on a dancefloor near you. The otherworldly cover art is done by the one and only, Bhump Records affiliate, WNDOW.

Could be, or could be me never shutting up about the most incredible, most influential underground bass festival I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing thus far. 

::Infrasound 2019::

Since 2011, Infrasound Music Festival has been at the forefront of the dubstep industry.​​ Tales of non-stop, unadulterated dubstep, from the moment you’re setting up camp, to the Tipper sunrise set. Infrasound always comes correct  with top notch acts from across the world, and sound systems to scratch any audiophile itch. It’s no wonder why the event gets so much love from folk like Tipper, Ganja White Night, Truth, Of The Trees, and Ternion Sound. One thing is for sure, they do it for the culture.

This year, the Infrasound team decided they wanted to host a smaller, more intimate family reunion gathering, before the full-fledged Infrasound dates. For the “Infra Fam,” this taste of paradise was just what we needed to get us by until September 30. With the full scale event rapidly approaching, people are so ready to be back under the oak trees with the fam. Don’t forget to pack your fresh new sweatsuits and maybe even a robe. With he autumnal equinox comes crunchy leaves and crispy air, so come prepared. 

::Infrasound Family Reunion 2021::

Infrasound 2021 is the music festival’s big ten year anniversary, and they decided to flex on the entire world with this missive curated experience. MALA, G Jones, Ivy Lab, OPIUO, Charlesthefirst, Mimosa, Telefon Tel Aviv, Globular, honestly just read the flyer and prepare to be absolutely aroused.  Not to mention a special GRLL SMTH & friends BBQ on Saturday! So be ready for some extra saucy dub plates, don’t forget to bring a side dish.

This Friday, September 17, the vibes will be brought directly to The Exchange & Alibi Lounge in downtown Minneapolis. Recently Supertask has been touring the United States with the Basspunk Loverboy himself, TieDye Ky.

Portland based DJ / producer, Kyle, AKA Supertask, AKA one third of Lab Group, decided to surprise us with another beautifully composed,  three track EP. “Captcha” perfectly captures his signature ambiance.  Blending melodic harmonies with earth shattering bass lines made to massage  the soul. 

Last September TieDye Ky blessed us with his third studio album, “Baby Blue and the Super Moon”, which is nothing short of a musical masterpiece. Raw emotion with beautiful lyrics, accompanied by his unique and catchy sound design. The project is surely to produce an incredibly emotional live experience.

For those in the Twin Cities, luck has shown its grace and those familiar with The Exchange, the excitement is so real. An intimate setting with the vibes of a vampire den surrounded by in house Funktion-1 audio. With over 100,000 streams already on the track, we’re apparently not the only ones who think it deserves to be on repeat.

Soft piano, airy background effects and Benyo’s immaculate vocals provide the beginning of the track with an ethereal presence. A laser-filled build up into a heartfelt “Don’t you know that you set me on fire?” suddenly drops the listener into headbanger’s paradise.

The artist teased these tracks leading up to his debut LP with none other than the legend, Liquid Strangers’ newest downtempo label — Sskwan. The 10-track project will undoubtedly have listeners sinking in an “Audio Oasis” of lo-fi quicksand.

Straight out of Pittsburgh, his hip-hop influence shines heavily through his ambient beats. “The concept for my project was started in my bedroom with a pair of headphones, a laptop, and the internet to build my sample database,” says Headphone Activist. The moniker, Headphone Activist, came from a lyric from a song by the Rhymesayers Records duo; Atmosphere. Being a fan of the hip-hop duo, he resonated with the phrase and adopted the persona — birthing Headphone Activist.

At the end of 2020, Headphone Activist released an incredibly crunchy yet heartfelt, nostalgic, hour-long mix with Sskwan which was just the start of the journey (listen here). Having played at music festivals such as; Ascension (2015), Enchanted Forest (2015), and Get Freaky (2019) he’s been grinding for some time now and it shows. 

“Audio Oasis” debuting on Sskwan only makes perfect sense and we can not wait to see what the future holds for Headphone Activist. For now kick back, turn the lights low and groove through the “Audio Oasis”.

Troubled and tested by life, Tatiana stayed true to her nature and dove into music production thus spawning — Redrum

 

From the depths of Portland, Oregon, one witch reigns supreme, and her name is Redrum. Most recently she signed onto AB Touring agency, and will make her way to Forbidden Kingdom Music Festival. This witch has been making serious moves. Along with being featured on Excision’s latest label compilation, Subsidia Dawn: Vol 2 with BrunchBeatz (listen here) as well as Electric Hawk’s In Unity compilation (listen here), this supreme queen is now featured on Liquid Stranger’s imprint label, Sskwan — the bass world is sure to remember the name. 

“The process of writing Phases was about becoming comfortable with change and finding peace with the fact that nothing is permanent. The title draws inspiration from going through the process of accepting and finding beauty in the many phases of life and channeling that into this piece was very cathartic for me.”

The duo sets a very, “1969 in San Francisco valley porn palace” type of vibe. Nu Strut surely struts his sound design game along with groovy guitar plucks that sound straight out of Funkytown in the ‘70s. Pair the groove with a foxy vocalist like Wreckno, expressing his love to get down and not giving a f**, and you got yourself a summer full of booty shaking.

The creative entity that is Nu Strut is brought to us by Brent Pinero. Growing up in Dallas, Texas, music has been a large part of Brent’s life. Taking part in a multitude of bands, including forming his very own blues trio 14 years ago. In 2016, Nu Strut began experimenting with electronic music, blending genres like his inspirations before him. Taking notes from some of his favorites like Grammatik, Koan Sound and LSDREAM, he continues to produce those Neo soul, Funkified, hip-hop suede type beats. 

Last August, Electrik Hawk hosted one of their infamously THICK Harmony Virtual Music Festivals, which Nu Strut had the pleasure of closing out, right after the Koan Sound boys(listen here). In the same month of August, Nu Strut also released his foxy funkified remix of “Funk ain’t even” by mad scientist Au5 and Nasty Purple. Highly recommended bop.

“Pornstashe ass out lookin’ like a plumber.” Wise words from the one and only baddie Wreckno. Attitude fills the dancefloor whenever Wreckno hits the speakers, it’s a fact. This banger hits like “Medusa” with Griz, and “Moon Sigil” have put this queen on the forefront of the party bass scene. It’s a beautiful sight to see all the positive reactions and support from the community supporting his project, making a safe space for all of LBGTQ+ involved. The future is bright and sassy and we are here for it. 

 

Needless to say, “Pornstache” is the refreshing bop we needed in order to get our twerk game right. Pull up those fishnets and bathe in sustainable glitter for this one.

We’ve been blessed with lullaby after lullaby from names like, MIZE, Superfuture, INZO, Headphone Activist, and Luzcid. Now introducing the newest face on the Sskwan radar; sharlitz web. 

Originally raised in the Windy City, Chicago, sharlitz web is now a Los Angeles based producer making her debut imprint on the Sskwan label with, “Dark Places.”  

“I wrote this song while I felt trapped in an unfamiliar place. It felt like chaos, yet somehow there was peace. The yin of darkness to the yang of light. I was invited into a realm where I was thrown upside down and had to find my escape.”

Her eerie vocals introduce the dark undertone as emotions run deep with the bass.A certain “sixth sense” type energy is exuded from “Dark Places.” Executed with intent and precision, the project will have you stuck like the fly caught in her lacework web. After the loss of her biggest inspiration, her muse, her little sister; Charlotte – sharlitz web feels it is her duty to channel the force through the music you hear today.

Wonder why that name hasn’t come across your screen recently? Well if the memo did not find you well, we are proud to introduce the one and only—TRIGO!

Formerly known as INFDL (pronounced infidel), the journey has shifted towards a new light. Check out the beautiful remix he did for CloZee’s “Mirage” track last September here. Now that everyone is caught up, the real reason for celebration, is to spread some love for the Debut EP from TRIGO; “Stellar.”

Five solo tracks of serenity. One part world bass, two parts hypnotic wave elements, layered with heavenly vocals and baked at 333 for pure bliss. “Stellar” graces the world May 7 with none other than the flyest birds of all; Electric Hawk Records. Back during the Harmony Virtual Music Festivals, INFDL had the pleasure to grace us with a 30-minute mix for the Harmony Festival finale.

TRIGO, a Denver native, made his way around the local clubs and bars, building a name for himself. For over six years, TRIGO has been producing and mixing sets throughout the underground wave and bass scene, all leading up to this moment. 

TRIGO truly shot for the stars with “Stellar,” and it shows. Make sure to take a seat, set the mood, and give the EP a front-to-back treatment.

Out now, Christina Soto celebrates her song with Tritonal, with her very own acoustic experience. Last year Christina Soto realized the world needed more acoustic renditions of her popular previous releases, “Still With Me” with Tritonal (recap with us here) and “Painted White” with Illenium and Said the Sky.

 

“I was so excited to rework ‘Lifted’ as an acoustic mix because the progression, melodies, and lyrics are strong, and I felt that it could stand the test of time,” shared Soto. “The message of imperfect love is also still a relevant one.” Christina Soto tells us through her latest press release. With Robert Soto on guitars and drums, Omar Vallejo on bass, and Haydn Vitera on strings, listeners truly feel “Lifted” with this refreshing and soulful act.

 

 

Coming out of Austin, Texas Christina has worked with multiple well-known talents such as AU5, CloZee, ATB, Illenium, Psymbionic, and ARMNHMR over the years and has made a name for herself within the EDM community. With training in Opera, Jazz, musical theatre and even gospel, it’s no wonder why you deeply feel every note she hits.

Out now via our gracious Gravitas Recordings, this ten track experience features one saucy remix of “Mile High Livin’” by the Los Angeles magician; MORiLLO. Contra Scandal uses his violin to cast spells  with eloquence blending melodies with upbeat glitch hop, and deep undertones, taking listeners on an ethereal “Escapade”.

The Denver native isn’t new to this whatsoever. In 2019 Contra Scandal won PartyWaves remix competition for MERAKi (peep it here) released alongside heavy hitters like Pushloop and Prophet. One surprising and unique project included his track,  “Last Breath” for the independent film “Kakapo Crest”, about a group of women who climb the Tusk off Milford Sound in New Zealand.  In 2019 he made his way to The Untz Festival’s ShadowTrix late night acts, sharing stages with ONHELL , VCTRE, Bricksquash, Hullaballoo, TieDye Ky, the list goes on. 

 

The fact that his second album is released with Gravitas should tell you all you need to know.
